The town hall with open hall is situated in a prime, lively location in the heart of Utrecht - right next to the central station and above the station concourse designed by Benthem-Crouwel. Architecture and public space are thus in direct dialog with each other.
Precise planning was required to maintain the gross floor area of 65,000 m². Different building elements are stacked on top of each other and create a variety of spatial atmospheres. The result is a sculptural structure that offers space for public and semi-public events. Each floor also offers an impressive view of the surrounding area.
