The building contractors, the Roman-Catholic Church of Solothurn, had the aim of finding an excellent solution for the sanctuary as a whole. Especially in the choir area, they were looking for more space and creativity regarding the design and staging of the new liturgical elements.

With their concept gutundgut was able to meet the liturgical, artistic and architectural expectations whilst simultaneously taking into account the strict conservation-related criteria. Their idea had shown how an independent idea could give a fresh impetus to a 200-year-old institution.
