Altdorf Cantonal Railway Station, Utilization concept and visitor reception

In 2021, the Altdorf Station will transform into a cantonal station with 14 Intercity stops on the north-south axis daily. Therefore, it will become one of the most important traffic hubs for locals and visitors to the canton of Uri. In this context, there will be a new Cantonal Bank building on the station square which offers the ideal basis to develop a future- and customer-oriented offer for commuters, customers and tourists. In the overall context of the further development as well as the upgrade of the center of Altdorf or the new bypass, the Cantonal Railway Station aims to contribute to the greater appeal of Altdorf as well as the whole canton of Uri. A visitor center will be built inside of the new station for tourists in Altdorf.
