Digitalization has fundamentally changed the way we exchange information. Let's think about the areas of work, culture, tourism, leisure, transport or business and imagine today's visitor center. Do we still need staffed information points when a good app does the job? Thinking about the economic viability of contact and information points also raises doubts as to how useful they will be for their operators in the future if information can also be provided via a website.

We are convinced that these places are needed. Because we see them as valuable places of personal welcome, knowledge exchange and social interaction, i.e. they perceive and serve important human needs. This inspirational paper sets out on an open search for the future potential of visitor centers and provides suggestions for thinking about them in a more inspiring, digital, multidimensional and networked way.

Due to its multi-layered functions, the visitor center of the future must also meet several requirements, but this increases its opportunities for value creation and quality as a place of work for its employees.

The visitor center is anchored locally and its visitors, guests and locals alike, enjoy coming back. Because this beautiful place always shows itself from a new side and warmly welcomes and inspires people.
