Churches and monasteries are fascinating places full of history and spirituality. However, many of these traditional buildings are facing new challenges today. The symposium will therefore focus on innovative concepts for a sustainable future and discuss solutions for preserving these unique buildings. The symposium will take place as part of the Cultura Suisse trade fair, which is aimed at experts from the fields of museums, heritage conservation and cultural assets.

The aim of the symposium is to highlight best practices for the reuse of churches and monasteries and to promote exchange between various stakeholders. We want to find concrete answers to the questions of which successful utilization concepts already exist, how cooperation can be successfully designed and which financing and marketing strategies have proven successful.

The symposium is aimed at church leaders, real estate managers, representatives of heritage conservation, tourism destinations as well as experts and researchers from the fields of culture, regional development and research.

Content & schedule

The half-day symposium from 10:00 to 15:00 offers you the opportunity to discuss innovative utilization concepts with experts. In presentations by David Vuillaume (Schweizer Heimatschutz), Prof. Dr. Johannes Stückelberger (Art History), Orlando Steiner (Quant AG) and Nadine Fernández (gutundgut), we will shed light on the political, legal and financial aspects of the new use of sacred buildings.

A panel discussion with the speakers and other experts will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss specific issues.
