The municipality of Heiden is the owner of a currently unused former slaughterhouse, which is under monumental protection. gutundgut, together with project partner Eric Meili from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and meili-agroplan, are striving to build an organic butchery with an integrated visitor center. The project focuses on strengthening local agriculture by creating added value in the region. In addition, the project aims at cross-sectoral cooperation, namely with regional restaurants, hotels and tourism. The integrated visitor center serves to educate guests, schools, and (tourism) groups about meat processing.
