How can we make the invisible visible and bring cultural heritage to life? This project addresses the methodological challenge of thoroughly documenting the intangible cultural heritage surrounding Johanna Spyri’s world-famous character and translating it into forward-looking tourist experiences. Heidi is far more than a literary character; she serves as a global symbol of freedom, a connection to nature, and home. The goal of gutundgut is to sustainably harness this cultural value through new methodologies and concrete offerings, thereby building a bridge between tradition and modern interpretation.
Innovation arises above all where different perspectives come together. To realize the full potential of the Heidi brand, gutundgut initiated an interdisciplinary innovation workshop that brought experts and visionaries from a wide variety of fields together around one table. In this creative exchange, tourism professionals, curators, and educators worked together with filmmakers, theater professionals, and scenographers to develop radically new approaches. By breaking down traditional industry structures, this collaboration has yielded concrete ideas for offerings that go beyond the conventional and bring the spirit of history to life in the here and now through compelling storytelling and spatial design.
