The Aargau Lay Culture Coordination Office (KoALa) is the central unit for strengthening the more than 600 lay culture associations and their 11,000 members in the canton. Anchored in the 2023-2028 cultural concept, the mandate (2025-2028) aims to optimally network amateur culture and make it fit for the future. The focus is on interdisciplinary networking, advising associations on challenges such as recruiting members and young talent and establishing targeted further training on topics such as communication and board work (starts in 2026).
Since the kick-off in February 2025, KoALa has carried out needs analyses and organized workshops to recruit members, the ideas of which are now being developed into pilot projects. An important step towards increasing visibility was the launch of the website in September. All of the work is being carried out in close coordination with a steering group made up of cantonal and association representatives.
