Aarau impressed the jury and was selected as the Swiss Capital of Culture 20230. For the decisive jury visit on March 17, 2026, the goal was to present the city authentically and highlight its cultural diversity. gutundgut supported the organizing committee in the run-up to the event by helping to prepare the application dossier and contributing conceptual ideas for the schedule of the jury’s visit. The City of Aarau was responsible for the entire organization and on-site implementation.
A varied daily schedule offered the jury a wide range of insights into the city’s urban and cultural life. The packed program ranged from musical performances in public spaces to a live podcast and a tour of key cultural sites. After a group walk through the Old Town, a question-and-answer session at City Hall marked the official conclusion of the visit.
